Insane Sarah Palin, Late At Night On July 4, Threatens To Sue Entire Internet, Via Twitter

Read ArticleArticle Source: Wonkette » top

Her link goes to (of course) Scientologist nut and sub-literate weirdo Greta Van Susteren's blog on FoxNews.com, where Greta has helpfully (?) posted seven pages of legal threats from Palin's lawyers, although you can't actually read beyond the first vague page of whining bull@!$%#, because Greta/Fox can't figure out how to operate the Internet.

But, from other websites, we gather Palin's lawyers plan lawsuits against MSNBC, the New York Times, the Huffington Post, the Washington Post, individual bloggers in Alaska, and other such anti-Palin forces such as "rain on your wedding day" and static cling.

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

In my mind what is insane is a country that is on the verge of economic collapse and then piling more debt on it. Calculations for debt per each American citizen range from $30,000 to $180,000 depending on how it is calculated. But never mind that, let's pass more stimulus that has not worked, cap and trade, and then another layer in the health care system all at once. Don't be surprised if the walls come tumbling down any time in the near future.

This fits right in with this other NV article...

http://lazzone.newsvine.com/_news/2009/07/05/2999092-after-calling-hillary-clinton-a-whiner-palin-blasts-medias-different-standard

So, she thinks she is being treated any differently than other women in the press...I don't see them going after the media or individuals with 'law suits'...

Palin imho is a lone wolf, crying spoiled rotten whiner because she didn't get her way...

And if she wants to take me to court for having an opinion then she has a fight on her hands...

I understand that Sarah's legal bills are starting to get out of hand. Therefore, I have confessed to negative beliefs and ideas about her, which I have expressed over the last year. I have published, here on Newsvine, a list of these criticisms, and have promised to expand it as necessary. I have also published a list of possessions I can offer her in our settlement.

It also demonstrates the ludicrousness of the GOP attempt to paint those who criticized Palin as being anti-feminist. I recall much breast-beating and howls of "hypocrisy" being aimed at the left at the time.

In truth, what was being pointed out was that the Republican nominee for the VP slot was a moron, not that she was a moron because she was a woman.

It also further showcases the bankruptcy of ideas in the party at the time that the felt it was necessary to counter a young, charismatic visible minority Democratic candidate with the likes of Palin.

So let me get this straight!?!? Sarah (her lawyer) wants to sue a few bloggers and people that post their opinion because they are stirring up a couple of rumors that have been in the MIX for MANY years? Not to mention they want to go after any media outlet that does EXACTLY what she has been accusing them of NOT doing: which is asking questions to search for any factual information as result of a rumor before they publish the info. She has lost her mind and she should add me to the long LAUNDRY list of folks that have been talking about this for years. Sarah brought this all on herself. Had she just given the standard "I WANT TO SPEND MORE TIME WITH MY FAMILY" reason, not one person would have said a peep. Instead she gives that rambling incoherent speech and expect people to just deal with her abandonment of duties because she said so? To be honest, most of us in Alaska are glad she's going because she hasn't done squat for us since last July when she was picked to run for VP. So good riddance and don't let the door knob hit ya.

I'll admit, I voted for her for Gov and I am sorry I did and I've said it before right here on newsvine, SNOWMEN WILL TAP DANCE IN HELL before I ever support her again! She's selfish and conniving and when things don't go her way...she cuts that non-supporter off at the knees or bailsout. Think about it....what women would had the fact that she is pregnant from her family, friends, and employers until after the baby is born. There are so many weird unexpliciable things that Sarah has done over the years til it will make your head spin to try and figure it all out. I know starting tomorrow the news outlets are gonna have a field day with all of this DRAMA and whatever the REAL reason is for her stepping down so suddenly, it's gonna be a MESS.

funny part is, I never even for one second, saw her as a woman, but always as some evil spew, pretending to be a woman and we all, was put in same boat, as her and her opinion's, for she for sure speaks for all women, in the US.

Gimme a break, you can't even find one, in the republican party, with two braincells over zip, there wanna say she speaks for them, she just set back the callender, to the stoneage and I bet, there will go another 20 years, before a woman, can get elected after this fiasco of a woman.

Oh and one more thing! Let's flip the script...how about Pres. Obama and his lawyers sue her for stirring in the "PALING AROUND WITH TERR0IST" statement that wasn't true but she said it anyway.

That's one of her many problems....she's too busy trying to go after EVERY little thing that is said about her. That's proof she's not ready for the big time national scene. She better stay here in Alaska where she's protected because everybody knows everybody or is married to somebody that knows everybody and everybody owes somebody a favor.

    Dear Mom and Dad,

In following with Republican "family values" and with Sarah Palin as my mentor, I have decided to quit college.

Quitting, according to my wized mentor, is taking the difficult, higher road. Staying in college and maintaining an attention span longer than a Tweet, is for losers.

My decision to quit will prepare me to be a future governor of Alaska.

Personally, I always tell my clients not to tell me things I dont need to know. It provides deniability in situations just like this one.

Who is going to pay these legal bills?

First question that popped into my head. Before she resigned I would have automatically guessed it would be the same people that paid for her big lakefront house--- Alaskan taxpayers. I wonder if she thought about not having the public trough to feed out of after she resigns. Another example of poor judgment and bad planning.

"She has a book deal, which is expected to make a few million."

If no one has said it, but maybe they were thinking it...

I will say right now, don't buy the book(s). I know that I will not.

In fact whoever the publisher is...don't buy any of their books...then we will see how 'popular' her book is...

If she goes on to do her own 'radio or tv show' don't listen/watch it...then we will see how popular she is...

If we don't talk about her, then we will see how 'popular' she truly is...

Sarah says people will be sued if we 'talk' about her...well...don't talk about her...don't give her the time of day, don't listen to any of her 'speeches', don't watch any news program that has her on it (in fact be sure to tell the stations you won't), don't read any of her 'publications'...

Mrs. Palin has made so many mis-steps during this whole thing for over ten months now. Never an "I'm sorry" or a "Thank You" to her constituents and other supporters. This woman is certainly showing to be a pitiful example of public servant.

I think she is in for a very rocky time and great public humiliation (far beyond what is now happening). No state should have to put up with such a deplorable character in public service and Alaska's had two in the most recent times.

Mrs. Palin appears as a demigod and in trying to rise above the fray she merely becomes more cemented in mire. It'll take years for any repair.

However, Alaska, shall remain. Generally, it's always greedy people who mess things up.

Ettenna you are SOOOO right! I've lived in Wasilla for 20yrs and even when Sarah was on the PTA she used to kick up drama and you are right she has RARELY,if ever, uttered the words thank-you or I'm sorry. The bottom line is this...you either agree with Sarah and her supporters or you get shut out and shut down PERIOD.

I think (imo) Sarah would try to sue her own mother if her mother told her that her hair color was wrong or that she had gained weight (or that she was batsh1t crazy - I said that)

She takes "victim" to a whole new world. It amazes me how some people see her as their "guiding light" (pun intended on the Soap Oprah) when a lot and I mean a lot of people see her as a dark, delusional twit who is giving all women who strive to make it in the political arena a bad name.

It will be hard for another women to try for the Presidency because they will compare her to Sarah every single time. Hope whoever does try has a lot of stamina, strength, intelligence and fortitude. She will need it. I like Michelle Obama in 2016 - I'de vote for her. (Now watch all the Michelle Obama bashers jump on this post)

So those are some of my thoughts on how I see Sarah Palin's character and personality.

Nice new site Greta but the links are all broken. And I hope Sarah investigates how Mrs Obama is operating 24/7 to take down Sarah and other Republicans state and Federal as well as other people. I hope she sues the pants off that public nose picking, kotex showing, public night-gown wearing (posing it as a dress) mrs Obama------>the man behind the curtain. Let's open a new fund to investigate what Mrs Obama has done so far to tear Sarah's family to shreds. Mr and Mrs obama are vile, angry, evil and dangerous people. Where did congress they find these ghetto whores? I hope Sarah sues Mrs Obama for everything she has. I'm beginning to put the pieces of the puzzle together. We're all quaking in our boots. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Libel requires a number of components to be present in order for the case to be viable in court, including knowingly portraying a false statement to be true (as opposed to presenting a speculative statement worthy of further investigation). Successfully suing the press for libel against an elected official is doubly difficult.

No surprise that Palin does not understand the nuances of defamation law. She still thinks that the First Amendment is designed to protect her right of free speech (as an elected government official) without being criticized or condemned by the media. Ass-backwards as usual.

Don't get me started on venue. Everyone thinks the best right of publicity/privacy laws are in NY or LA. Actually the best common law language for the plaintiff is found in GA. MSNBC isn't in Atl right?

Technically, Dawn, libel is covered by two areas of law: torts (defamation) and First amendment (federal, constitutional rights). Under First Amendement Palin hasnt got a prayer of succeeding against the media; under tort law (which is state controlled) she would have to met the standard set out in New York Times v. Sullivan (the case against Martin L. King, Jr and the NY Times when they published an advertisement soliciting financial support to fight the racist Police Chief in Montomery). It was there that the standard of malicious, knowingly false statements be part of the publication. Good luck proving that.

I'm sure her lawyers will sue under every statute/claim they can think of. I assumed she would use right of privacy as well. Winning depends on picking the right venue as well. In NY and LA it's statutory which I agree is extremely hard. GA on the other hand gives more freedom to plaintiffs. That's why I was wondering where the statements were made (not that it technically matters in that respect either -minimum contacts and alll.

So let me run on over to my favorite Alaskan blog see what they are saying.......

    Wow

On the Fourth of July, when Americans everywhere were celebrating our most sacred national holiday with parades and barbeques, Governor Sarah Palin was busy having me, Shannyn Moore, declared an Enemy of the State.

In a rambling quasi-legal letter, the most powerful person in this state accused me of defaming her for pointing out the fact that there have been rumors, -rumors- of corruption, rumors that have been around for years.

Dont want to get into pasting too much here but you can read the rest either on huffngton or mudflats.

Estrela you interpretation is correct I believe but the state torts mention Malice and I believe there was a movie about that The abscence of malice which said if you could not prove a statement did not show Malice then you had no case.

Malice and damage. Sometimes an opinion can cause that even if it is speculative in nature and includes information that may not be true about a person. So if a blogger includes such information and adds to it by degrading that person, then in a sense that blog could be considered an act to cause Malice and damage to a person's character. And if sued, then the blogger has to defend his or herself and prove beyond any doubt (to a jury) that the information was factual AND the accompanying opinion was unbiased and not intended to inflict harm upon a person's character. And last time I checked on the price of a lawyer, they were not cheap. And how many bloggers here can afford to hire a defense lawyer? And since Sarah Palin is about to become a private citizen again, the odds that a blogger or news agency could be sued if they report anything other than a proven fact good or bad, goes up considerably.

Remember, a well known, large media broadcasting company knowingly reported about G.W. Bush's Military career as fact based on known falseified service records. Had G.W. been a private citizen, he would have owned the media company and a lot of bloggers that posted personal attacks on him as well.

A Journalist's duty is to verify and publish the facts and not offer opinions. Leave that up to the reader to form an opinion.

A Blogger's duty is write an opinion based on known facts without degrading the personal or professional character of the person he or she is commenting about.

I went to the GretaWire paged and said how they on the right bring hypocrisy to an entirely new level. I asked there and many other times where all their outrage is when so called religious/christian ministerprays for Obama's death, where is Bill-O to scream traitor and America Hater when GOP leaders criticise the President when he is overseas.

Or when Faux 'News' runs a 1 hour piece on the life of Palin with no, zero, zip, nada voices of people who disagreed with her. How is it that they trash "A Day in the White House" when it's about President Obama when this has been done for several Presidents.

We on the left do have our loonies and people who cross the line with their political discourse but it pales in comparison to the right and the GOP who have their leaders and major TV network saying the most appalling things from Laura Ingram (who wears that stupid cross and claims to be a Christian) to Glenn Beck who advocates for another terrrorist attack to 'get his attention'. Vile and hatred is the hallmark of the right and Palin dished it out in spades.

She is going to be a multi=-millionaire and a celebrity which to a person with Borderline Personality Disorder and Narcissist Personality Disorder is perfect. Thank GOD she is out of politics and if the GOP folks running in 2010 and 2012 are smart, they will steer clear of her like they did Shrub in the last election.

Mary, I think you should wait patiently for the other shoe to drop. This woman decided to resign because there is something very detrimental to her coming down the line. She thinks if she gets out of office before being forced to resign, it will somehow make it look like it was her idea, something she did for the "sake of Alaska."

This is an extremely poor strategy. I don't know who her advisors are, but Sarah Palin has not done one politically savvy thing since she came into the national spotlight. With this resignation, she is cutting her own political throat. Likely, she will be a rising star in Christian politics and perhaps they will form a third party, but she is effectively done, as in dead meat, in the GOP.

She isn't holding any cards, much less an ace, because she isn't in the game any more.

Palin is hardly insane. She is simply an old school, hard line conservative, doing what she does best which is to 'run' when confronted with consequences and call it God's will.

Run away, run erratic, run for her life and never think that the result will refer to her honor or that of her family as she pimps them out for political sport and then cries foul. Her request that more mothers suffer the horror of giving birth to children with Downs Syndrome is indicative as to the measure of her delusions regarding what is a 'higher calling'. If her husband were killed in a hunting accident, she would discover the motivation to promote the gun lobby with even greater fury. Sarah is a spoiled, ignorant and greedy snob. I predict that her arrogance will surely land her a spot in the Rod Blog Hall Of Shame sooner or later. For the moment, she believes she beat em' to the punch. Go away little girl and take that silly 'Dude' with you.

I honestly thought and hoped I'd never live long enough to see the day, when much closer than "borderline" McCarthyism, (in drag or otherwise) would rear its insidious head again.

This woman needs a psychological workup, and soon. Does she really think this is mainstream politics? If this keeps going, what's next? Threaten to sue individual citizens who don't equate to her proscriptions out of a da** phone book?

Sorry Sarah, but McCarthy was eventually shown to be the megalomaniac paraniod he was. Stop this lunacy now, Sarah. Now. It's for your own good, your own mental stability. Go seek help. Professional help.

The irony is so thick, its getting hard to see. Palin's lawyer, Van Flein, named in his 4 page press release that he would seek to sue the NY Times and Washington Post - their crime? Certainly not reporting on the Wasilla Sports Complex or housegate. No, Sarah wants to sue them for defamation because they sent reporters to go ask questions in Alaska. Seriously? This is the last, great hope of American Conservatism? Good luck with that.

FBI denies investigating Palin for corruption

          Sun, 05 Jul 2009 15:39:01 GMT

The FBI says it is not investigating the conduct of the former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin as governor, as mayor or in any other capacity.

Palin's abrupt resignation from the governor's office on Friday provoked speculations including that her resignation comes at a time when the Federal Bureau of Investigation is going to look into her conduct for public corruption charges.

However, the FBI denied such speculations.

"There is absolutely no truth to those rumors that we're investigating her or getting ready to indict her," Special Agent Eric Gonzalez told The Los Angeles Times in a phone interview Saturday.

"It's just not true." He added that there was "no wiggle room" in his comments for any kind of inquiry.

Barack Obama was a member of a racist church for 17 years, the last year of which it had become publicly known (although little reported by his flacks in the MSM) that his good friend and pastor JW was a bigot. Even after Wright's bizarre rant at the Washington Press Club , Obama did not quit the church. It was only after his friend Michael Pfleger did a race soaked comedy act against Clinton in the pulpit of TUCC did Obama finally say enough is enough and quit the church.

Against that standard, Palin is a beginner.

              And the entertainment continues....

The response in the main stream media has been most predictable, ironic, and as always, detached from the lives of ordinary Americans who are sick of the "politics of personal destruction". How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it's about country. And though it's honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make.

My god, this woman is really, really self-absorbed. Not to mention feeling sorry for herself.

In hindsight, that's what the American people clearly called it, too.

Its all very predictable isn't it?

              Here are her next steps:

-admit some wrongdoing just before its scooped by the press

-play the victim of some conspiracy

-Blame the liberal media and the Democratic party

              -quote the bible

-tearful plea for forgiveness on TV,

              -publish a book.

              -reality television

strike the "admit some wrongdoing just before its scooped by the press" and "tearful plea for forgiveness on TV" Shes done nothing wrong--ever, in her whole life, and doesnt need the MSM to forgive her for anything.

other than that youre on the right path; and Dave in MA too. :--)
