Andrea Mitchell: Palin Out of Politics, Period. End of story.....

Read ArticleArticle Source: Daily Kos
advertisement

....maybe. I can't verify it. I'm not in freakin' Alaska.

Rolling Stone now reporting the same update: http://www.rollingstone.com/nationalaffairs/index.php/2009/07/03/palin-resigns/

MSNBC now has the same thing: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31726640/ns/politics-more_politics/

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Although I've heard, other than the mosquitos and biting flies, it's lovely there at this time of year.

They still have meeses, which they hate to pieces...

As long as Sarah Palin can see Russia from her living room window, she'll still be a vital, pivotal figure in Republican politics. I mean, when the Russkies leave Alaska, where do they go? It's Alaska. At least, that's what the lady told us last Fall.

DragonWoman, that's an interesting thought.

There's little doubt in my mind that she's going on to something bigger, better and possibly more lucrative. It's her right, after all. It's kind of unusual for a governor to resign without an accompanying scandal but she's such a maverick, you never know.

Agreed! If not the moose, maybe the turkeys! Palin craves too much of the spotlight to just slither away quietly under a boulder and keep to her inept self. She cannot stay at home to be a mom; she exploits her kids too much. She do not know what it is to be a true mom. In a few weeks , if not a few days, we'll find out what she really is up to and why she really quit. Until then.....hooray for Alaska!

neolib is a term that means non interventionist free market economist.
reagan is well known as the king of neoliberalism
the right wingers upset that bush the SELF IDENTIFIED NEOCON
turned out to be a big piece of crap.
and decided to resurrect the term neolib and misuse it much like socialism
and scream at you "YOU REAGANITE YOU!!!!"
that part really tickles me.
neolib=reaganite
and thats not spin /en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neoliberalism">Neoliberalism

I saw nearings posting on the embezzelment indictment to come... so sorry Kathleen54, I would not dismiss "without scandle" so soon.

If there is a court battle to come, she will need to make money, the kind she can not garner as Govorner.

I find it interesting she choose this weekend (Wimbldon, M. Jackson, Sanford, 4th of July).

"passing the ball for victory"... more like getting the hell out of the game.

A more refined liberal. An old school lib would be burning the flag, or smoking it. Libs and cons have kinda traded places. The neo-cons are the ones flying their flags at half-mast and teabagging for the cameras.

PNB...I was thinking pretty much the same thing. I don't know her publisher, but I'm willing to bet my next month's rent that they take a bath on the book. Then again, maybe not. But I can just picture walking into my favorite Barnes & Noble when her first literary opus appears and see the big display just inside the door. I figure it will sell for no less than $24.95, but in a few months it will be in the overstocked section selling for $3.95. Then again, maybe not.

Just a thought...

One of the bloggers who has, in the past, filed ethics complaints against her made a request for certain e-mails from her and her office. They tried charging her (a single, disabled mother) an astronomical amount for this FOI request, and, through an exchange of "break that charge down for me" e-mails and narrowing the requests, she got it down to $5500 (to access information which, legally, belongs to her, as an Alaska resident).

Ton of cash... She held a fund-raiser. Took her less than a week to get the cash together through donations. She reported on her blog that she mailed the check today. The Governor's office knew it was coming, as she'd contacted the office to find out to whom to make out the check, and the address to which to mail the check.

I'm wondering what was in those e-mails... and am awaiting their public release. (I don't think Diva is just going to say, "well, cool," and let it drop, but that's just my opinion.)

Can I just say I found this part of her exit speech (Transcript here) jaw-dropping:

And so as I thought about this announcement that I wouldn’t run for re-election and what it means for Alaska, I thought about how much fun some governors have as lame ducks… travel around the state, to the Lower 48 (maybe), overseas on international trade – as so many politicians do. And then I thought – that’s what’s wrong – many just accept that lame duck status, hit the road, draw the paycheck, and “milk it”. I’m not putting Alaska through that –

Travel around the state... The lower 48... Overseas... What, like she's been doing for HOW long, now?

Just came across a missing page (I think one of the geese nabbed it) from her rambling, disjointed speech today:

As we prepare to celebrate our country's independence, Sarah Palin wishes to take this opportunity to express her great appreciation for being so blessed to be thankful for this great nation of ours....that she appreciates....and is thankful for...which makes her so blessed....to be able to appreciate our great nation...of ours...of which she is a part...of.

She also wishes to express how blessed she is to live in the great state of Alaska. After all, anyone can pet a moose, but only a true Alaskan can reduce it to a large pot of moose chili.

She is also so appreciative of all those who appreciate her family, including Trapp, Trog, Peter-Piper, Truck, Barstool, and Wallow, as well as future babies Tinsel, Teflon, and Tallow.

Yep, Skye, I called that one... was wrong about the "very quietly" part, should have known better.

Let her file. There are a couple thousand lawyers who'd wet themselves for her to file that suit. If you file the suit, you don't have a choice, you HAVE to show up and be deposed by the defense. I'm sure Palin wouldn't mind at all answering questions... She'd have to, for example, explain exactly who the "buddies" were that helped Todd build a half-million dollar house, and produce receipts for materials purchases.

The fishing business isn't as much of a moneymaker as you suggest. At least, it wasn't as of her 2007 financial release.

    http://aws.state.ak.us/apocinterim/applications/20080829090545.Palin,%20Sarah-08.pdf?pof

According to her relase, the fishery made $46,265 gross, that'd be before the expense of running the boat and such. And it's just salmon, not shrimp, according to the release.

Probably less this year, as the salmon run is a lot weaker than previous years, last I heard Canada was planning on a lawsuit as a treaty which demands a certain level of salmon be allowed to reach upstream to them wasn't being met, and there are strict limits on substistance fishing (which means more for Todd, hm...).

Huh? Yes, it's nice when records are made public. Pity the Palin administration doesn't think so, given the massive fees they charge for access to public records. Check out the fight one blogger had to get access to e-mails, for example.

Found the Palin 2006 and 2007 tax returns, here.

If Todd is making a bucket of cash from his fishing business, they're not claiming it on their tax returns. In 2007, they claimed a total profit of 15,530. Somehow, I expect if my husband took a second job (not that he has time, his first job is full time, unlike Todd Palin's) that brings home 15,530 a year, we're not buying or building a $550,000 home.

Not sure what Trig's playpen/crib or her kitchen have to do with the conversation, you've lost me, there.

Not sure what Trig's playpen/crib or her kitchen have to do with the conversation, you've lost me, there.

Well, you remember the game "gossip" where a sentence starts out one way and ends up nothing like it started?

Sarah said in her resignation speech that everyone needs a Trig. So someone replied to this something about a Trig in every bassinet. Norhing was mentioned about Trig having DS but that was taken as a terrible insult. And then it somehow turned into abortion. The bassinet person cleared up what she meant. Then it became a crib in a kitchen. So this is a good example how things get turned around.

I wonder if we could all be wrong here. Perhaps there is a health issue with her or her family. I think I'll just wait and see before I pass judgement.

Then again, I never intended to vote for her anyway.

...the dem party have declared that she would be running for office in 2012.

          That was wishful thinking.

It's not productive to judge the opposing party by its sillier members, though. Just because the rational Republicans aren't the ones being heard right now doesn't mean they don't exist. If the Democrats underestimate the Republican Party, they'll lose (again).

Sarah Palin is making a lemonade from lemons.

Imagine, if Palin takes the place of the boring Couric.

I imagine if Sarah shows up anywhere it'll be on FOX noise with those sterling peerless journalists, Snuffly Snotty Glenn Beck, Bill the Liar O'Falafel and Sean the GOP Pawn Hannity.

And to think ten months ago we never even heard of her. Don't know of anyone else who can make so much from losing an election. I am afraid John McCain has created a monster.
