Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

All this may add to Palin's foreign experience ledger.

I think the days of Palin trying to baste and stuff her foreign policy credentials are in the past. Let's hope so anyway.

BTW, what do you get when you put lipstick on a turkey?

If some industrious type went back into the Palin media archives, who knows what other jewels might turn up. Maybe a ribbon-cutting at a fish-gutting factory. Or firing off a pistol to start moose hunting season.

Every one of you must be city folk.    What you saw is real life and someone not afraid of what was going on in the background.    My Uncles, both in New York and Tennessee are farmers and they KILL!!! pigs, turkeys, chickens and rabbits so you, the city folks, can have what you eat on your table.    Gross isn't it!!!  Remember the cow issue.    Did you all stop eating steak.    All she did was promote a business that we all rely on for Turkey dinners for thanksgiving and other times, not promoting killing turkeys as a fun sideline.    Lets me know, based on this video I watched and your comments, its all just hate Gov. Palin.    No intelligent conversation here, just more of the same un-intelligent conversation with no bases of anything.    Just ridicule and hate.    What a conversation.    Hope you don't eat Turkey anymore, after this.    Or maybe your the types that protest super markets for selling Turkey but will sit down and give thanks when one is on your table.   How sheltered you all are.

I used to watch my grandmother wring the necks of chickens we would have for dinner later that day.  But not once did my dear sweet little granny talk to me about "pardoning one chicken" and how much fun we were  going to have.  None of us are naive enough to think that fully dressed and packaged meat appear in our supermarkets via the meat fairy.

I think you are missing the point that she was clueless about the obvious irony of what she was saying as opposed to what was happening in the background.  If she was that clueless about the turkey, then imagine what she would have been like as a VP.

greg i'm hardly a city folk.  I've done the deed more times than I can count not once did I think how fun or neat it was to watch an animal die.

I thought the prayer was 'Lord thank you for the food we eat' not 'Lordy that was so funny watching that turkey die I want to see more'.

I kept waiting for her to go over dip her fingers in the blood, paint her face, stick the turkeys head on a stick and begin to worship.   Palin's version of 'Lord of The Flies'.

          Well deserved ridicule IMO.

Palin to fail.

          greg,

Not everyone eat turkey on Thanksgiving....I purchase a couple of oven stuffers...don't eat pork, beef, lamb... Parents raised me a southerner...Alabama...can't get any more southern than this...and yes granddad owned a farm, pigs, chickens, yada yada....

I don't think people hate Gov. Palin (too strong of a word), may be her stupidity, pretending to know things she doesn't and presented it to us as if she does like we're stupid, and all the negativity that followed.  People don't usually dislike others for any reason....it's usually something about the individual or individuals that turns them off or persons themselves see something in others that they themselves desire (Psych101).  I don't think anyone that don't like Palin see something in her they want for themselves. It is more than likely the former reason...her unfavorable character during the election....first impressions are important and usually stick and obviously not all the crap they were tossing and flinging at Obama.

Never said anything about Obama.    In fact, I didn't vote for him, but I hope, for our sakes he does well.    My point is, Its a hate Gov. Palin thing.    What would you think of other politicians, if they went to a real world company, instead of a politically correct, or what we think is a clean company, and did the same thing.    I think the other politicians are afraid to go out in the real world.    They all just do their speeches, at the companies that we deem as normal.    Please read alot of these comments.    Its only degrading insults towards Gov. Palin.   i relate to her, and I am in the Civil Engineering business, have been to my Uncles Farms, crawl on top of Sewage Treatment Plants, check Septic tanks, design subdivisions etc... and I know thats the real world.    I would love it if other politicians actually got down and dirty for a change.    The suite and Ties, which I have to wear, are false bravado's.    I want, for a change someone real and not phony.    Name me one politician who isn't arrogant or phony.    She is doing interviews in real places for a change.    Just by calling someone, who was thrust into this political arena, which we don't get into, Stupid, is hateful.    At least she wasn't afraid to get into it.    How many posters would do the same, be scrutinized, your family ridiculed etc...

I didn't "condemn" the company one bit.   I'm sure it is a legit business just a tiny one.  Two cones and a trough from Atwoods, I doubt they have a big impact on alaska's economy.  Go to a real food production facility if want to see the route food takes to our table, guarantee there is not some guy squeezing turkey.

Gross, guess you missed the part "I've done the deed more times than I can count "

It is not neat or fun to be at or in a slaughterhouse.

so what was 'neat' about being there?

"Another one wanting Gov. Palin to fail."    There is a real simple solution she should quit acting like an stupid arrogant ass.  She also needs to quit acting like she is in high school she is nearly my age drop little cutest neato wink wink shtick.

          greg:

          It isn't only city folk who choose not to eat animals;

          If you think "Its a hate Gov. Palin thing" and that she didn't earn the ridicule she insists on presenting herself for, I think you haven't been paying attention;

Maybe you just agree with her that killing animals (and working with/around excrement?) actually proves that you work in (or just are in) "the real world."  I suppose you think only small-town people and attitudes are "real America", too?  Sorry, you don't get to stake out what is the 'real world' based on killing something or crawling around with human waste.  "The real world" is a little bit bigger than that.

And people who wouldn't read a statement claiming to be "a friend to all animals" and then pose and babble in front of a turkey slaughter are actually real people, too.  Hard to believe, I'm sure.

As for how "real" the virtuous Gov. Palin might be, I would have a little more sense of that without the excessively pricey hair, makeup and clothing that she availed herself of during the campaign, while getting cheers for calling herself "Joe Six-Pack!  Hockey Mom!", etc.

The revelations of how much state $$ she was quick to claim to spend nights in her own home (because her children didn't want to move to the governor's residence?)  Ok, that is pretty real.  Real corrupt.

How she continued the proud Alaskan tradition of fighting for more federal PORK as Mayor and Governor per capita than any other state in the Union while running on the virtuously anti-PORK ticket and sneering at P-E Obama's earmark fund requests.  Real, again.  Real dishonest or real hypocritical.  I could go either way.

And maybe more than anything else, how she publicized her heartfelt sigh of relief that the bi-partisan state senate committe (which she said she welcomed investigation by, and then stonewalled and disputed) investigation had reported that she was "utterly exonerated of any sort of wrongdoing"--when it reported that she violated Alaska's state ethics law, even though she had not violated any law by firing the guy who wouldn't step in to fire her evil former brother-in-law who had already been disciplined according to THEIR standards (presumably "real life" standards).  I know a lot of real people who wouldn't think a finding of "violated state law" equated to "totally exonerated of any wrongdoing."

And I would be more impressed with her courage to 'get into it' if I'd seen any indication that she had a clue what she had gotten into.

Just so we are clear, I don't look down on people who actually get their hands (or whatever) dirty for a living.  But I don't see any virtue in sneering at people who have embraced a more sanitary life.  Clean is actually ok with me--and I am pretty damn sure you are not any more "real" than I am.

            Never said anything about Obama.

No you didn't.  You just made an indirect connotation...using a comparison. If Palin is "reality" who were talking about when you wrote "pillow talk." Wait a minute are you criticizing politicians in suits and ties when RNC went out and spent thousands of dollars worth of clothing on Palin, her significant other and children, and when McCain wears $400 and higher designer shoes. Name you one politician that isn't arrogant or phony? Then I suppose you'll accept the fact that Palin is a politician and definitely amongst those in the arrogant/phony list of yours'. Look Palin is not the only one that does interviews in real places.  Aside from this, what other type places do these interviews take place? You write as if there are two different type United States...the ghost one that no one accept those who exist in it can see....and then the here...the real one.  At least Palin wasn't afraid to get into what?  Posters are e.g. pictures on billboards. So your last question does not make any sense at all..."How many posters would do the same, be scrutinized, your family ridiculed etc..." No other candidate was scrutinized as much as Barack Obama was during the entire election.  As far as ridiculing Palin, she did a fine job doing this all by herself.  No offense, but use Spell Checker and/or Grammar Checker before posting responses. It helps considerably...I use it all the time...

Again, to DHARMAgirl.    Geez I love that show.    Re-read your post because I had a hard time at first, understanding what you said.    Pork, spending, over taxation etc... are a fault of all parties.    You may be liberal, democrat or conservative or republican, I am not sure.   By your comments, I would say more Liberal.    What would happen if, more people, young, with better ideas, and more ambitiuos ideas, were elected into office.   What would happen if, more people were elected into office, that ran the governement like a business.    Its not Gov. Palins fault for what we are in now, its the same people you vote for over and over and over.    For me, as a conservative, I didn't like anybody right now.    Does that make me bad.    I just voted for no new taxes, as I am a small business owner, and if more taxes get repealed or raised, my business doesn't grow.    Last year, during the boom, We were dbating on hiring more people to grow our business, but this year put a stop to it.    If business gets better next year, but my taxes go up, what should I do.    Should I hire people and take a loss to give people a job, or support my own family.   If Gov. Palin said anything you may agree with, proposing not doing higher taxation should have been it.    We, in business, and I'm sorry to say, don't loose to employee's.   Now not raising my taxe, would let me grow and hire those you speak for.   Which to you would be better.

Greg, I did grow up on a small farm. If it was meat we, or a neighbor, raised it. I was taught as a small child to respect the animals because they would be making the ultimate sacrifice so I could eat another day. I have a deeply profound respect for all animals thanks to my grandfather. I want to see their suffering held very minamal. Taking a life, regardless of human or animal, should NOT be a joke.

Greg -- Don't hate us if we prefer to have our steak or poultry pre-packaged and wrapped in paper from Publix. That just means that our experiences are different to yours. The slick comments from some of us, myself included, is as a result of some of the utter tripe (I said that for your benefit) that she has said before that shows how unqualified and unintelligent she is at most times. She should have known that most people have never witnessed the killing of an animal like that before so it is offensive to most people's sensibilities.

That whole scene was disgusting and I prefer to stick my head in the turkey funnel and not see how my food is killed/bled out (kack!). Once again, poor Palin made a stoopid choice (yeah, I spelled it that way on purpose). There is no way you can use her name and "real" in the same sentence. Notice how her boobs deflated once she got back to Alaska? Musta bought the falsies at Niemen Marcus, too. She sucks and I hope once she serves her term out as governor of Alaska, she just disappears. I prefer my leaders to be smarter than 8th graders. Everyone I know (including small businesses) ran their tax for comparison via McCain and Obama's plans. They all found they would do significantly better by Obama's plan. Did you check that out? Just curious.

Its not how intelligent you speak, its how intelligent you really are.   I know people who can't put their ideas into words, but make millions on their actions.    I love when someone turns what you come up with, into their thoughts, but its not really their thoughts, but they claim them.    I am a city folk myself, but do see the farm.    What tripe does she speak of.    Better government for the people?    Less government against us?    Less handouts to lazy people?    Less taxes to people and/or companies that hire you and me?    As to animal sacrifise, you need to speak to America as a whole.    We are the ones eating the turkeys shown being slaughtered, and yes I said SLAUGHTERED, because thats what it is.    Nice comment on on Gov. Palins BOOB's, another intellectual discussion.    As to Pres. Elect. Obama's Plan, he still takes money from those who hire you, and still gives checks to lower and middle class.   How far will that check get you when you have to pay the bill's.    1 month, maybe.    Yes Schnoo, I went off topic, but I won't say sorry this time.    My taxes go up, as one that hires, I will not hire, and please don't denigrate my job as I do hire people.    Big 3 having money problems, who will suffer?    I bet people will be coming to my company for a job, but I will have to say NO!!!   Because, again, off topic, the government is taxing me to much.     This is all for above, below my last post.    Folks, Spelling bad, sentence structure bad, but hopefully you get my point.

Greg, you take yourself way too seriously. If we can't laugh then what are we going to do. Our economy is in turmoil so if I want to laugh at a comment made by someone else, you better believe I am going to do it and out loud too. If you were honest with yourself Greg, you would have to say that it was funny. I for one noticed that the hair bump has also deflated as well. C'mon you know you noticed that too.

I only mentioned her BOOB's UU > uu - because it's TRUE - compare old footage with footage of her interviews currently (not that I really give a squat - evidently BOOB's buy votes). I am only middle class, but, right now, between paying for benefits and paying taxes - my net is just under half of my gross. Crunching numbers - 1/3 goes to taxes - state, city, fed, SS and Medicare. For all those taxes, I might as well move to a socialist country. So, to continue with Bush's current tax plan would not benefit me in the least which was McCain/Palin's intent. And all the squawking about getting big government out of the way is just another freaking LIE. Evidently, she didn't forget the talking points that were drill baby drilled into her pretty little head.

It's not just HOW she speaks but WHAT she is saying! Palin can barely put together a concise sentence, much less manage to elucidate what she's stating.

I know people who have difficulty speaking as well. I am one of them. I constantly snap my fingers to remember what I'm trying to say, but 1) I'm not running for VP and 2) I still manage to get my point across. I really have difficulty understanding the point she's trying to make half the time because it's disguised in catchy phrases (reign in spending) and filler words (again, also).

                        greg:

Pork, spending, over taxation etc... are a fault of all parties

No, it isn't "all parties" fault that she goes for the record-breaking pork that she does.  Or that she then acts all righteously indignant that Senator Obama (at that time) actually dared to go for earmarks for his constituents (at a much lower rate than she did.) That was just her.  Like everything else that was pointed out on this thread.

Its not Gov. Palins fault for what we are in now

Nobody blamed her for "what we are in now".  Everything negative was about what she IS responsible for.  Her own words.  Her own actions.  (Even her own "boobs", which I have to admit I hadn't actually noticed now that she isn't flaunting them.  Or inflating them, I guess.)

If you are a conservative, shouldn't you have some grasp of the concept of personal responsibility?  Any?

She doesn't get kudos for flinging herself into the wider political arena when she is incapable of uttering a complete sentence, naming a single newspaper she has read, or telling the truth about much of anything.  It isn't an insult to point out how stupid and incompetent her words and her actions make her look.

She doesn't get kudos for being more "real" than all the "phony" politicians when she is parading around with her family in $150,000 or $50,000 in new clothes that don't belong to them.  What, "everybody does it"?  Did your mother fall for that when you were 5?

And by the way, with your hypothesis that getting dirty makes a person more "real"--if you think dirt is more real than people are, you really shouldn't be saying anyone else is "in a fairy tale world."

Glad you liked "the show."  It doesn't have anything to do with my screen name, but I won't try to tell you anything else that is hard to understand.  (Your posts were not an easy read, either.)

Dharmagirl.    Still love you and the show.    I would really like to know the difference in pork she went for and the difference in pork that Kennedy, Clinton and Kerry went for, in New York and Mass.    Wonder what the price difference was.    I give her kudos alone, for at least getting in it.    Would you do it.    Maybe, if you thought it may make a difference.    You may not have liked what she said, but at least she tried.   Again, Schnoo, off topic alittle, but had to answer.   If you had the chance, would you try Dharmagirl.    What a chance of a life time.    Same old thing though, you try, and all dirt in the world is brought up on you and family.    Guess it should be left to the regular politicians to run, but look where they got us.    Both Parties.    As to clothes costs.    Who really bought them.    As to Pres. Elect. Obamas wife, who paid for the lobster dinner she had,in house, at the hotel her and her family stayed at.   As to Pres. Elect. Obama, who paid for anything he did, when he was on the election trail.    All the money raised, by us, and all the money given by the party, paid for what they all received.    Did she keep the clothes?    As to getting dirty, I didn't mean that literally again!!   i mean being like me and you, not afraid to be in the thick of things.   As to Fairy Land, alot of people don't want to here the bad with the good.    Just the good.    I have not said anything bad about either candidate, whether Dem. or Repub. but would like to see more on Gov. Palin, other than her being called Stupid, Idiotic, Gullible, not in touch.    She got evryone talking about her and I think she's smart for that.    How many politicians wished they received that kind of publicity.  Probably smarter than we think.  I wasn't being condescending about your name.    It just brought up good thoughts, and how simple and funny that show was.    It let you get to a place not real, but fun.   Don't be so defensive.    Just loved the name you chose.

To shewhodoesn'tfallforbs:    You shouldn't fall for any politician then.    Which has not given us BS and promised the world.    Gov. Palin didn't promise anything we don't all desire.    Low taxes, government out of the way, self sustaining poplution, less handouts, less government, less taxes to generate jobs etc....     How could you not want or desire that.    Or have you fallen for the typical BS of the politician, who has us where we are now.    Remember, there is alot of issues involved and you will need to know who is involved and what party and who has said what, during this economic disaster.    Also, remeber that there are laws on the books that should have stopped this, but no party came to the front to deand this be handled.

Jen, I think knowing that it could have been worse is what is so funny.  We can only be thankful that she wasn't in the kill room of a slaughterhouse.

It shows a severe lack of judgement.  We all know that this is a part of the food industry, and most of us eat turkey, but that doesn't make it alright.

Palin was in the wrong place at the wrong time means, these people that work here don't need to be shown because it insults me.    Again, this is real world and these industries have to make a living also.    Was it offensive, again, because of the turkey farm, or was it just Gov. You see she's in Alaska, McCain in Arizona,  and Barack Obama is in the White House come January 20, 2009.  So apparently more preferred "pillow talk" over so-called "reality."  And I think you have it backwards, because Palin was the one winking her eyes, raise your her hands in the air and shaking it like she just don't care,  and carrying on with all the pillow talking suggestions. What do you mean "it is time for real life in this country?" What are we, ghost conversing with one another?  Uh, what to you mean by "everything else brings surprise?" Palin was the trick and watching her perform was definitely a treat and a not surprise following the first couple of performances.  What is general real talk?

                                    Hey Greg;

I am not sure what you are talking about.  Farmers can talk about whatever they want to on their farm.  The POINT is that she is a public figure who was there to "pardon" the turkey.  The news filmed it and made it public.  The fact that she was clueless about her backdrop is proof that she doesn't think things through.

I don't think I'm living in the fairytale world..I have watched our family kill pigs, chickens, deer, and small game to put food on our table.  I just have a problem with a public figure who is supposed to be doing a good thing and making a mockery out of it.

If that was supposed to be a photo op, then it certainly didn't have the intended effect!

Someone saying its time for government to get out of the way and let people do what they do.

Greg, other than criminals, I haven't met anyone who thinks that the "government" is their main blockade to success.  Furthermore, I believe that we deserve a president of that is somewhat "unreal."  It is the most important job in the world.

An "exceptional" leader is what we need.  The president should be empathetic with the plight of a turkey strangler.  He shouldn't necessarily be his buddy.  There are a few people that have what it takes to be a great president and Sarah Palin will never be one of them.  Frankly, her ambitions are unnerving; she doesn't seem to understand enough to know that she is ill equipped.

To Annfortruth:    Is pillow talk all we have come down to.    Remember the old days when, work meant work and welfare meant welfare.    She may have winked and did all those curte things, but, in this video, she has the guts to be at the turkey farm.    I've said before, I am in civil engineering, and do understand what the suite and tie, pillow talk means to others.    It means you will come across as a typical business man in the business industry, which we all seem to trust more.    Of course, the suite and tie has us in the situation we are in now.  But come weekends, I help on my Uncles farm.    I also let my clients know that, I am not a suite and tie kind of person, and when they come, sometimes I don't even shave.    They know this and don't mind, because they are no different than me.    The clients I have are the down to earth guy's, and is this not what you would like to see.    Not some suite, but someone thats real, makes mistakes, learns, then does the right thing.    I learn all the time.    Does that make me a Palin.    politicians are afraid to get down and dirty anymore.   They just want to keep their jobs.    When was the last time we gave the down and dirty guy the job.    Look where we are at now.    We keep electing the same old people.

Not some suite, but someone thats real, makes mistakes, learns, then does the right thing.    I learn all the time.    Does that make me a Palin.

Not according to what I've seen of her.  Learning does not seem to be her strong (sorry) suit.

You have actually now expanded your original contention to say that anyone who wears a suit doesn't learn from her/his mistakes and/or doesn't ever do the right thing?  I have this really funny feeling that you do not expect to be judged by people who appreciate sanitation but you certainly have a hard and fast litany of what CLEAN people do and don't do.

You are still insisting that dirty is "real", and "the suite and tie has us in the situation we are in now."  Do you honestly believe that insisting that people who don't need or want to get dirty for a living aren't REAL is less elitest than the other way around?  Your standards may be different, but you are still claiming to be better than the people with different hygienic standards than (apparently) you, and suggesting that they are what is wrong with the world.  (is that the real world, or the world they get to be in, too?)

And you might be the only person who saw "guts" in Gov. Palin's ability to stammer through a traditional photo op (reading a "pardoning" of a turkey for Thanksgiving that she couldn't get through without poking the guy standing next to her--yes, we got that it was hilarious to refer to herself as a 'friend to all animals') and then give an interview with a backdrop of slaughtering turkeys she didn't 'pardon'.  (Or maybe the same one, I didn't see them give the chosen turkey some kind of grace mark.)  She SAID it was fine, no problem, what kind of 'guts' does that take?  Do you think she was lying?  Is that even more "real" than those of us who not only have to stay clean on the job but don't lie?

And by the way, she did not look any too confident or thrilled to get close to that rather dirty turkey when the guy actually picked it up.  You know what?  I did not hold THAT against her.  But I am wondering why YOU didn't.

                                        greg,

To Annfortruth:    Is pillow talk all we have come down to.

I am not the one who brought the above "pillow talk" phrase into the conversation. You did and I only responded to it. What are you? Nuts? Only kidding. I kinda like you, because your not mean spirited or at least your responses don't reflect this. But you're making assumptions when writing the following, "They know this and don't mind, because they are no different than me.    The clients I have are the down to earth guy's, and is this not what you would like to see. "  How can you make this determination about me when we haven't even met? I am a down-to-earth person and can interact with individuals on all levels. It doesn't mater. I don't view people as beneath or above me. I view them simply as people.

greg, look I understand you like Palin and I really don't have anything personal against Palin the person, just her attitude during the election and all the negativity. You're entitled to like who you like and the same holds true for me and anyone else.  But Palin is not better than any other politician and most aren't honest in the first place. I respect your viewpoints, but simply disagree with them. There isn't any need to tell me you feel the same when it comes to mines' but this is all right. I happen to know we all have our own opinions, some are diverse and others the same.  What a very dull world we would be living in if this were not true. This is a debate and the objective of a debate is to present valid and strong arguments to the opponent. It's term opponent because in debates parties usually disagree with one another. The person with the stronger argument and valid points usually wins the debate, like in the election.

GEEZ !!!    Please read and comprehend what I said.    I am a suite, as I said.   Suites can be phoney, as I said.    Suites don't always look out for you.    Suites don't go, as to government, to the actual working class sites.    Suites, government, want to be shown as for the working people, but don't go to areas that Gov. Palin did.    Does this not tell you that, suites, government, don't want to disgard those big companies, but would discard the small companies, like mine, because it wouldn't be politically correct to be seen at a turkey farm.    I am saying, government is really not for the little people.    They are for themselves.    You vote, because they stand in higher up companies, but would you vote for them if they were at a turkey farm.    From what I can see on this post, you would not.    Still love the show !!

to annfortruth:    I am only talking about politicians in general.   Pillow talk means those that say what you want to here.    Real life is what we don't want to here anymore.   To much bad news, to much death, to much of anything.    Pillow talk is glossing over what is really happening.    Didn't we get caught by suprise by whats happening now.    Didn't all the representatives, pillow talk us through until we werein the mess we are in now.    Now wouldn't you want real talk for a change, with a representative getting down and dirty, say being interviewed at a pig farm, interviewed at a shopping mall, interviewed at any, I don't remember if its blue or white collar, but the job you and I have.    What representative goes out of his or her way to be where we are.    I really think Gov. Palin may have, if she had more than 2 months to prepare, would have been where you and I are.    And yes, we are in the mud right now.    My business is slowly going stagnate because I deal with construction.    I am tired, as all my post try to explain, of the same old thing.    Have we not learned yet that, the same old tired people, we elect into office, whether Republican or Democrat, still are the same and have us at the point we are at now.    Now Schnoo, I hope I didn't get off topic to much.   I am saying, you all have criticised someone who sounds like us, but is willing to get in there to try to make a change.    So what if she makes a mistake.    So what if she doesn't sound like a roads scholar.    All those types I just named, has gotten us into the situation we are in now.    How smart do they sound now.    And annfortruth, I like you too!!    Just trying to make a point without getting down and dirty.   Its not that I like her personally, I just like the way she speaks about, government get out of the way, let people do what they do best.

What I'm trying to say is, we don't have the guts to do what she did, by getting into politics.    I have never, ever, hated, degraded, talked bad about, a person because they did what even I didn't have the guts, or smarts to do.    Everyone posting, tries to go out of their way to flat degrade this person, but what do they, or I have thats better.    I have never seen a person go through more personal attackes, on her family, the way she looked, what she does etc...    Yes, Pres. Elect Obama went through scrutiny, but what about the scrutiny was personal.   Some, I will agree, went overboard, but you had to really look for it and 98% of  It all had to do with policy .    I never heard once, his kids being degraded or even his wife.    His wife was only called up on her comments and not her personally.    If this happened, it was wrong.    You people need to understand, these are still people and they have guts.    I don't fault Pres. Elect Obama for him, Sen. Biden for him, Sen. MCcain for him, Gov. Palin for her, but will critisize policy issues.    You all get personal, but can't state fact as to policy diagreements.    Thats my point.    Wouldn't everybody finally want, someone in congress, like us, and not the typical politician.    Look what we have now, and Gov. Palin isn't even in the mix.

If you never heard the personal attacks on P-E Clinton, his wife and daughter, and then President Clinton and family, you must be pretty sheltered.

If you haven't heard the racist venom and the "I'm not a racist but he is going to cause riots in this country--will turn our country over to terrorists--force us all to turn Muslim" about P-E Obama and his family, you have amazingly selective hearing.  I  sure didn't go looking for that, it's depressing as hell.  As depressing as terminal denial.

This isn't a post on Clinton.    We are talking about Palin.    In Fact, during this election, Pres. Bill Clinton brought up the race thing against Pres. Elect. Obama when Sen. Hillary Clinton was running against him.    Please tell me where you are going with this post.    Still love Dharma and Greg Though.    I don't think I'm sheltered, just practical.    I think she's fun.    Sometimes sounds like REAL TV with REAL People.

And she'll sell more books when her next interview is done in front of the moose she shot with someone field dressing it in the back ground.  I can see a whole series of these interviews in her future.

To even be in public relations and politics and stick a turkey slaughter behind you is so blindly stupid - remember the kiddies are even watching - that it defies understanding.  If you are too superior you understand that simple fact... I can't help that.  Us that understand that are NOT from the city... if you knew what we did we could run bloody turkey circles around you in the fields.

It has nothing to do with with the circle of life, or someone doing their job... this is just plain stupid of Palin.  If she didn't notice it she needs to wake up, if she did and wanted it this way she's just plain twisted and creepy.

On another note - She might say government needs to move aside to let the people do their jobs, but the GOP have been taking away our rights for at least the last 8 years.  Doing everything but moving aside, and her included.  Just because they say one thing doesn't mean we can't see they are doing something else.  Just like in this damn video.  She's all smiles and giggles and there is a turkey bleeding out behind her.  This is exactly what the Republicans have done to us for the last 8 years - bled us freakin dry.

I think the video is a beautiful visual example of conservative right wing policy!

So what if the 'kiddies' are watching?  It's life, man.  My 3 year-old daughter has seen a turkey slaughtered and could have cared less.  Didn't cry, didn't get upset.  It was a learning opportunity for me to show her a part of what life is about.  You know, until recently, death wasn't something we sheltered kids from.  It was a simple fact of life.  My dad spent his middle and high school days working in a turkey slaughterhouse after school.  Is it gruesome?  Can be.  But instead of avoiding those topics and aspects of life that make us uncomfortable as parents, we should embrace them as teaching opportunities for our kids.  My kids do not live in some imaginary bubble where nothing bad ever happens in life.  If you want to eat turkey this Thanksgiving, this is a part of how you, as the consumer, get to enjoy that.  A turkey has to die for you.  Again, big freakin' deal.  This is one of the reasons liberal pansies irritate me so much: they're wasting so much of their time trying to protect their children from the realities of life or cry over it themselves.  My children are not pansies and I will always strive to ensure that they are facing this world with both eyes open.

Biden has been in congress forever and still, we re-elect him, and what has changed.    Typical, vote the same guy in because we know his name, but don't know what he's done or really stands for.    I feel the same way about MCcain.   Hes' been there to long, and I would like to see young and new for a change.    Heck, even the newly elected Democrates, young in age, are now saying, raising taxes on anyone, will not help this economy.

No one outside of Chicago ever heard of Obama before he gave his speech at the dem conven in2004 unless you had a rec center that had to be named in Illinois

That would mean approximately  2,269,084 more people potentially knew Senator Obama than knew Governor Palin.  A pretty good head start for a presidential candidate over a vp candidate, if you can bring yourself to be that simplistic.  If you don't want to be quite that simplistic...

...you probably can't see the wisdom in letting Sarah Palin anywhere near the White House.

Correct me if I'm wrong.... don't mind  constructive criticism.

                                                                                                      Dharma Girl,

I kinda figure the comment did not come from fadeplayer, which is the reason I worded my question the way I did. The question again though is did the individual who wrote "posters" in the comment mean to write "impostors?" A poster is a picture or illustration of something and an impostor is someone posing to be someone they aren't in actuality...want-to-be females/gay guys the individual referred to. Would not the gay guy be an imposture...male posing/acting and/or dressing like a female.  The way the comment is worded is confusing using or at least I don't get the gist of the statement the other way around...Thanks.

After all, he has GOD on his side, and still has sex with his wife (a little overshared, in my opinion, but I know that is important to some guys to let people know.)

This is about poor, hilarious judgement.  Reality has a time and a place.  As I said earlier . . .

Everyone poops, but you would never do a filmed interview while you are sitting on the pot.

or someone sitting on the toilet behind him pooping, grunting and carrying on in an attempt to do his nasty though normal deed while conducting an interview on national television? The television blocked out sounds of the employee cracking the turkey's neck and I can imagine hollering, squirming and carrying on or else we would have heard this too. But it doesn't take much for us to hear sounds that were blocked using our imaginations.  It's not so much the fact that some of us eat turkey. It's like you wrote, "Reality has a time and place." I wouldn't want to see or hear someone actually pooping, grunting, and carrying on on national television while another person is conducting an interview any more than I wish actually watch slaughters of turkeys under the same circumstance nor would I want to be the interviewee standing in the forefront while this is on going on in the background. Writing descriptions of this episode reads disgustingly, so actually watching it must be worst. How can anyone argue against this point or believe otherwise? Some automatically assume individuals are attacking Palin when in fact they are attacking her poor judgment to do this. I doubt very seriously if this is her visit to a turkey or that she did not know what occurs there or how the slaughter is done. Nor do I believe she did not hear the sounds in the background merely a few yards away. Palin looked back, didn't she?

I saw that "real" quality in Sarah Palin, and could relate to it.  But she also displayed what I see in some of my friends and family back home...a very real, and very small reservoir of experience to draw from when dealing with anything or anyone different from what they know.  A person with those very real qualities will probably never hold the positions of President or Vice President, and that I honestly believe is a good thing.  I'd definitely have her and Todd over tho.

Elect. Obama promises relief, but how much of my money is he going to need for relief of others,    Gov. Palin promises less of my money, but how much less.    Pres. Obama promises more money from my clients so I'm not sure if I will loose my job or not.    Gov. Palin says government should move aside to let me work, so I have to dig into, how much is government going to move aside.    Which would you pick as a business owner.   One that may bill me more or one that may let me bill more.  Sorry, but I have a family to raise on my self employeement.

She was living on her older brothers farm. She was the 15th child of 16 kids.

So she got some rocks and proceeded to stone this poor bird

It was lame but not dead when she was caught. Her brother  chased her around with a wet towel to whoop her butt.

                                                                                                                        The bird was killed.

They all had a turkey dinner that night.

                                                                                                                        Thanks to grandma.

I just thank God there were no cameras back then.... although, I busted a gut laughing at the thought (sight).

She should know better than to try to wing it. I guess that's why she fouled up the interview. And why she continues to come off as a birdbrain.

Be killed and eaten.  Every time you go to Subway and order a Turkey Club, there's a good chance the turkey you're eating was raised on one of our farms.  They start out so cute!  Then they get bigger, older, and eventually their heads get cut off.  Just part of their life-cycle.

He nor I am a pansy....but your a prick. And sir animals have kept you alive more then once...they feel pain and emotion and you are so far from reality that you have hurt yourself...Who elected you as more important then animals anyways? At least they are more loyal then you are..you see an animal as a commodity...do you give thanks to the Creator..when you kill one? Do you thank the Creator for the food on your table? Do you do anything but put people down because we are more Open minded then you? Drink some more flouride and chlorine so what's left of any commen sense you have will leave you without a brain...so you can flop around like a butchered turkey! Pffffffffffffffffft

Animals are a commodity, especially turkeys.  Okay, maybe the pansy remark was a little extreme, but I'm tired of all the PETA types going around trying to equate animals with humans.  Animals (especially the type of turkeys raised for food) run on instinct alone.  What emotion?  And where is the proof of such emotion?  I've never seen it in the turkeys.  Yeah, they probably do feel pain, especially when one of them freaks out because a dog barked somewhere and they kill another turkey by clawing it to death trying to fly (which it can't do in the first place).  The slaughtering process we use is painless in comparison.

Yes, the image probably was jolting, but we live such sanitized lives for the most part that it is bound to be jolting, and sometimes reality is just that way.  More people need to read books like "The Grapes of Wrath" (not just watch the movie, huge difference).  There are several references to reality that Steinbeck makes I'm sure people today would be horrified by but by which it is treated as "just another day" in the life of the people at the time.  I mean, you do know that pigs would eat a person given the opportunity, right?

Okay, maybe...but I am ot all the PETA types going around trying to equate animals with humans. Animals (especially the type of turkeys raised for food) run on instinct alone.  What emotion? And where is the proof of such emotion? I have never seen it in turkeys?"

The above argument is very weak. First and foremost individuals in some countries do equate animals with humans. Secondly, you are not a turkey (in terms of food) nor is a turkey human. You will never be a gobble gobble nor with a turkey be a human. However, using the term "turkey" defined another way humans can be this. So, how is it remotely possible for you to know what a turkey feels and a turkey knows what you feel? Do you speak turkey and does turkey speak English? Turkeys require food to grow and be healthy, they die via murder or some other reason, they bleed when cut or when their heads are chopped off, they holler, and do many other things humans commonly do, and have acquired needs as humans do too, so is it too unrealistic to assume they too have emotions as we do and feel pain as humans do when our necks are broken or whatever physical pain we may suffer via some physical painful means? If someone snaps your neck off, who is to say the turkey does not know what is going on? Not anyone can ask the turkey and get a response, because like I said humans do not speak turkey language.  The same holds true for the turkey being murdered. Can anyone ask the turkey prior to the turkey dying if it is feeling any pain and get a response? All animals have languages understood in their individual groups of same species, just as all humans have languages understood amongst cultural groups. Common sense tells me if a turkey is hollering and squirming to get away while being slaughtered, emotions do exist and just because they are not understood by humans does not mean emotions are less important than humans. Infants can not tell you they are in pain, but if you are familiar with their different cries, you will know. But if the infant can not convey this to you and you are not familiar with the different cries, does this means the emotion the infant is feeling is meaningless or the baby is crying for nothing? I do not think so....

As Ann put it so eloquently, you don't actually have any way of  knowing the things you so confidently assert, and your confidence in something you have no way of knowing doesn't make for a very convincing argument.  Right up there with "it's ok to eat them because they are sooooo stupid."  By that standard, Governor Palin could be at risk, unless she is always armed.

And by the way, people have been eaten by their domestic pets, when they've passed away and left the animal with nothing else to eat.  Does that justify eating dogs and cats to you?  People from many cultures have had a history of cannabalism, too.  I don't think that is much of an argument for eating humans.  Maybe you disagree.
