GREENSBORO --Delegates to the annual meeting of the N.C. Baptist State Convention voted overwhelmingly Tuesday to expel Charlotte's Myers Park Baptist for welcoming gays and lesbians without trying to change them.
The Dark Ages are still right around the corner.
Yeah..simply outrageous that a religious organization decides their own doctrine.
Nothing as hypocritical as a bunch of Bible-Belt Christ-loving gay-bashers.....Baptists at that.
What evidence do you have that they are hypocritical?
As Baptists ... we are welcoming to everyone," Blume said. "But our convictions on the authority of Scripture call us to obey God."
Their own words.
So? What am I missing here?
Dunno. What are you usually missing?
How does the quote show them to be hypocrites?
Maybe I should finish the sentence for them...
As Baptists ... we are welcoming to everyone," Blume said. "But our convictions on the authority of Scripture call us to obey God."....and not welcome everyone.
We're all sinners, but we don't want those kind of sinners.
You are wrong. Homosexuals are welcome to attend any service, any time.
Yeah, gays and lesbians are so "welcome" that entire churches have been expelled for welcoming them.
Baptists work in mysterious ways.
You are the one that is missing it. Churches are being expelled because they endorsed the homosexual lifestyle. That is very different from expelling people from a church for being homosexual.
homosexual lifestyle
Done here.
Better luck next time.
But Allan Blume, head of the Baptist State Convention's board, told the meeting the Bible calls on believers to turn away from sin, including homosexual behavior, and find new life in Jesus.
"As Baptists ... we are welcoming to everyone," Blume said. "But our convictions on the authority of Scripture call us to obey God."
Can we please as compassionate Americans try to understand Christians? To quote Killfile on Islam:
Until we are able to step back and stop acting like gawkers at a traffic accident we're not going to be able to understand the Middle East either socially or politically.
Until we are able to step back and stop acting like gawkers at a traffic accident we're not going to be able to understand the Christianity either socially or politically.
Well kudos to Meyers Park Baptists.
