The New York Times Web site reported that Gonzales submitted his resignation by phone to President George W. Bush on Friday.
In case you didn't believe the other one.
Sure, GWB will be gone on 1/20/09 and Alberto has to find another job or write a book unlike the 80 US Attorneys that thought that their job was for life.
80 US Attorneys that thought that their job was for life.
Facts not in evidence, det.
Thanks for the correction.
It could be 80 but they were 8.
I wish that I can change the size of the font in Newsvine. Small, Small very small.
sch
The TTTs of the US Attorneys and the Democrats in the Hill show a perfect example of noise making for nothing. The 80 could start finding a job since day one that they were assigned, they aren't Justices that we are stuck until they croak.
det
I may be partisan, but you are blindly partisan. I'm not going to go into the specifics of the fired US attorneys cases (it's all there if you choose to look at it), with the Rove connections and the AG connections, but suffice to say, you need to go a little deeper in your reading AND understanding of this case.
sch
Look, I go as deeper in this case like the manure that smells from the noises of the Dems.
I wish that politicians go after the Judges that slap the hands of the rapists and sex offenders because of their "understanding".
det
You're changing the subject doesn't distract from the fact that you don't like this story because it makes the Pubs involved look like liars and fools. And that it's the Dems who so masterfully that have been pointing it out in this case for months. But now it will be out of the headlines. You can thank Gonzo and dubya at long last for that, at least.
I am not a relative of Alberto and he is smart to get out now and not like the 8 US Attorneys that hoped to stay for life.
det
Please provide a link or citation for the 8 fired US attorneys saying they "hoped to stay for life."
The bomb dropped on the Monday before Labor Day. This will have minimal impact.
Schnoo, Deter certainly is a blind partisan.
The dem majority with their marxist show trials got what they wanted....should be fun getting a new one confirmed.
Marxist show trials?
Um, what?
The show trials will come later, Lisa. After the show hearings, the show special prosecutor, the show indictment and right before the show prison sentence. As seen on Fox TV and in real-life media. Stay tuned.
The dems got nothing criminal on Gonzales. He's gone now. Let the games begin on finding our new AG.
Just because he resigned doesn't mean his lies and squirming will be forgotten or the investigations stopped.
Even Repubs think Gonzo is a duplicitous liar.
Call Congress and urge the appointment of a special prosecutor to get to the bottom of Betogate. After all if Bush is gonna pardon him, he might as well be convicted fairly, first.
lisa
Ramsey Clark. I will not poke anymore in/on Janet Reno because she is handicapped. My bad today.
And the Democrats continue with their fish expeditions:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada said: "This resignation is not the end of the story. Congress must get to the bottom of this mess and follow the facts where they lead, into the White House."
It seems that they think that keeping Bush in the news will help them in November. Unfortunately for the Democrats, Bush isn't running. Some polls indicate that it may affect voters for Republicans, but when polled on specifics, voters have tended to go with Republicans in some instances so it's not at all clear that this will help the Democrats. Instead, if the Democrats continue with their Kangaroo courts and not pass legislation, voters may get fed up with them this November.
Fish expeditions? This is Democrats clubbing baby seals until their arms get tired. This is hunting dodos to extinction. This is shooting buffalo from the back of a moving train. This is drunken quail hunting in a cage in Louisiana —— whoops, ANALOGY OVERLOAD! REJECTED! REJECTED!! The Bu@!$%#es' corruption makes it soooooo easy.
Bu@!$%#es. meaning -ites of Bush. No swearing intended.
My Dems friends are fed up with the actual Dems in Congress and Presidential candidates.
With due respect, it strains credulity to believe you have Democratic friends, det.
Well, Det, my Dem friends are not.
it strains credulity to believe you have Democratic friends, det.
Well, I might appear in the Guinness Book one of these days for having unusual friends.
Well!!! It's about freaking time. I can't wait for the trial. Can I get anyone some popcorn?
"...he called his 13 years in public service a "remarkable journey," but he gave no explanation about why he chose to resign now after resisting months of pressure to quit."
"Remarkable journey?" For whom? He must be speaking of that cold night in March of '04, right? The day hell froze over?
The trend:
Bush minion does unspeakable crime.
Evidence of crime is unearthed.
Bush spin machine denies evidence. "Nothing to see here, folks. Move along now."
Further evidence is provided.
Further denials.
Evidence sufficient to suggest that minion should be sanctioned or removed from office surfaces.
Bush says minion is blameless, innocent as newborn babe and will never leave office.
Congress finally gets around to oversight.
Discrepancies arise between official White House story and truth as supported by verifiable evidence.
As calls mount for minion to be woodshedded, Bush repeats everlasting and undying support for minion.
Evidence makes clear Bush version of events is bull@!$%#. Even Republicans start calling for minion to get the axe.
Bush makes minion commit political suicide, hand in resignation which is "reluctantly accepted."
Repeat until impeachment.
Oops, I forgot final step. Blame Bill Clinton.
GWB is right, it's a "remarkable journey" to try to stop the Justice Department requesting papers, papers, papers.
Good riddance. He got caught lying about something that happens regularly, done by both parties, namely the replacing of U.S. Attorneys for political reasons, but is not normally attempted on such a brazen scale and lied about with so little compuction.
Even if you are a Repub partisan you have to wonder how they could defend this guy so stubbornly. He committed many acts of constitutional destruction the effects of which will outlive all of us and which people of all political stripes will regret in one way or another.
He was a good Bush Republican, a kind that has proliferated like a bad weed in that sick sick party.
So Gonzales resigns.....and my first reaction is : so who's next?
i think the bitter-enders hope the Democrats will waste time on a circus over who should replace Gonzales. The real fun will be pursuing Cheney. This moves impeachment up the ladder. Thank you God!
Here's my list:
You forgot Ed Meese.
I ♥ Meeses to pieces.
The first blabber this morning was my "favorite" Mr. US Senator "Matraca".
Scooter Libby's free, so to speak.
Scooter Libby's free, so to speak.
Same with the long list of "leakers" to the Press.
Sure you want to go there, det?
The real fun will be pursuing Cheney. This moves impeachment up the ladder. Thank you God!
Get a blue ribbon first for the impeachment.
You know, besides a little exclamation point button we need a little question mark button for the comments that just don't seem to make no sense. What you talking 'bout, det honey?
det's not a native-born English speaker.
Or listener either most of the time. ;^)
sch
Thanks for the defense. Bring the translator.
I gathered as much and was trying to be nice, but what the heck are You trying to say?
Mr or Ms Dagda,
It will take you sometime to glue together my thoughts that are very clear.
Glass thoughts, huh? Who'da thunk it?
He was a good Bush Republican, a kind that has proliferated like a bad weed in that sick sick party
.
LOL. I did not know that the Dem Party is healthy. Good for you.
