Expectations come at a price. Dubbed the "Jesus Phone," the iPhone has raised the bar of consumer anticipation so high that regardless of how well it actually works, some will be disappointed. Steve Jobs hopes to sell 10 million of his newest toy by the end of next year, but there are several factors that may spoil the iPhone party.
Anybody got one yet?
I don't yet, but perhaps next week I will.
Strange, this article re-states what people were saying back in January. We'll see what happens after the public has them for a few days, but I'm betting Apple will at least hit their 10 million mark.
I'm thinking huge initial demand. Sustained sales... a question mark.
I've got mine and it works perfectly. I'm actually surprised at how quick EDGE is; for all of the vitriol hurled its way, I was able to load MySpace (read: poorly designed, bloated bandwidth-sucking pages) while grocery shopping at Wal-Mart (I multi-task) in a not unreasonable amount of time. Sure it wasn't as fast as my DSL at home, but it was absolutely passible.
Also, I think they keyboard is wonderful. I never really got into the T9 nonsense, and while I've never used a QWERTY keyboard on a phone before as a reference point, I found typing on the iPhone to be fairly fast and easy. I sure wouldn't want to write an essay on it, but I was going along at a good rate, and that was with very little practice. I figure in a week's time, I'll be flying along.
Kirk, any screen reception/loading problems with it? Battery charge life what Apple claims?
Ah, the beautiful screen! No, I haven't had any problems at all. I can't yet vouch for the battery life, as I didn't have that much time to play with it, and I frequently had it in the cradle (lots to sync).
One thing that surprised me was that after taking pictures with it, iPhoto launched the next time I synced so that it could load the photos.
Yeah, the same way Macs are always trying to be friendly and anticipate your every need. ;^)
